Consultancy Service to Assessing Groundwater Resources and Design of Aquifer Recharge Systems in Selected Islands of Maldives (IUL)438-GCF/438/2020/199

Client : Water & Sanitation Department Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology, Maldives

The project team conduct a detailed literature survey to gather more details on the related study followed by the baseline assessment to establish the current status of the groundwater system and associated catchment characterization with aid of fieldwork (Geophysical surveys [Electrical Resistivity], Soil permeability field tests, soil profiles, steady state pumping tests) desk and social studies, data pre-post processing, analysis, interpretation, derive recommendations and reporting work. Next feasibility study and concept design were conducted on developing managed aquifer recharge (MAR) systems for the islands with a specific emphasis on flood water management, followed by the detail design of MAR systems.
